PTA Memberships – Sign up by Friday October 7th for your child to have a chance of winning a Kindle Fire & $50 Amazon Gift Card! Memberships are $5 per person and sign-ups will continue throughout the year. The money is used to cover dues at the District, State, and National level. The remaining $1 per membership is used to support our school’s PTA. The National PTA offers savings and discounts for all members! (Visit www.pta.org/members and click “Member Discounts). BoxTops: Help our school save money from grocery items you buy anyway. Just save the box top labels from General Mills products and have your child bring them to school. It’s that easy! For a full list, visit www.boxtops4education.com click Participating Items).
Coke Rewards: Save all of your Coke Product bottle caps and Coke product box ends (with the code). Turn them in to school and we will turn them into money for your school!
Christmas Fest: Held Thursday, December 1st. This is an evening of crafts, food and pictures with Santa! Volunteers are needed in advance to help decorate the school. Yankee Candle orders received prior to due date can be picked up during this event.
Color Run: Will be held Saturday, April 1st at Mills Rd. Park, as a fundraiser for the PTA. Runners begin dressed in clean white t-shirts, and pass through a three color stations along the route (location TBD). Each color station is associated with different colors, with volunteers showering the runners with dyed cornstarch. There will be a DJ and water to motivate runners and keep them going.
Faculty/Staff Appreciation Week: Held in late April or early May. The PTA shows our appreciation of Kenton Elementary teachers, faculty, and staff. Meals and/or snacks are provided throughout the week.
Fall Harvest: To be held Saturday, September 24th from 12-4pm. Great chance for kids, teachers, and parents to get to know each other and have fun! There will be over 20 games/activities for all grade levels, hot food, a cake walk, chances to duct tape a teacher to the wall and MORE! NKU college students will help run the games and give out prizes.
- The Fall Harvest is a FUN event for Kenton students, their families, and friends! We can only make this event happen with your help! Please fill out a PTA volunteer form if you can help, and we will email you closer to the event.
- Drink and Cake Walk donations are needed for the event. Donations reduce festival costs so more goes straight towards the school/students. We need:
- Bottled water (any brand) and Coke* products. *Kenton County requires us to sell Coke products only.
- Homemade or store bought goodies are welcomed for the cake walk including: cookies, brownies, cake pops, cakes, and any other sweet treat you can provide.
- The drink and calk walk donations are accepted at the school office until the day of the Fall Harvest Event.
Fifth Grade Recognition: Held at the end of the school year. Rising sixth graders will be recognized for their hard work and encouraged as they prepare for the next stage in their lives.
Fitness Fridays: Provides all students an opportunity to enjoy fun activities while staying fit! Fitness Friday’s is in its fourth year at Kenton and starts on Sept. 30th from 7:45-8:15am. Students start their day with fun physical activities. Please see the green form sent home the first week of school, and have your child return prior to participation.
Food Nights – Skyline and LaRosa’s: Join us throughout the year for our food night fundraisers! Just show up on designated nights (TBD), and tell them you’re with Kenton Elementary. A portion of your meal will go towards the PTA for future events and/or classroom supplies.
Founder’s Day: Held in February to honor lifetime PTA members. Volunteers needed to help plan the event and handle refreshments.
Grade Level T-Shirt Sale: Each grade level will have their own colored shirt with the school mascot. Fifth grade will have a Kenton blue shirt with white letters, a special design and logo, and all fifth graders’ names listed on the back (with parental approval). Friday, September 9th is the last day that order forms and money will be accepted.
Kentucky Kids’ Day: On Thursday, September 22nd, we will celebrate our wonderful Kentucky Kids and how each student is special! There is an activity for every child to complete. All artwork will be taped to the cafeteria walls during Fall Harvest for you to see.
Kroger Plus Card: Do you shop at Kroger and have a Plus Card? An easy way to support Kenton Elementary is to add Kenton Elementary to your Community Rewards. You must re-enroll each year. Go to www.Kroger.com and click: “Community,” then View Record Results” and scroll to “Community Rewards” then Edit, Enter, and Enroll. Fuel points are not affected
Puttin’ on the Kids/Volunteer Recognition: Kenton Wildcats are talented! Students will dance, sing, play instruments, tell jokes, and much more in one night of showcased talent at Simon Kenton’s High School Auditorium. The show will be in March with practices beginning two weeks prior.
Red Ribbon Week: Our school will celebrate Red Ribbon Week Monday, October 24th through Friday, October 28th. The National Theme is “YOLO Be Drug Free!” (You Only Live Once). Each day we will have a different theme (ex. Crazy hat day) and students will send home information the week prior
Reflections: The Reflections program encourages all students to express their artist talents by creating various art based on a theme chosen by the National PTA. The 2016-2017 theme is “What is Your Story?” More information to come in October.
Schwan’s Frozen Food: We’ve teamed up with Schwan’s to offer great food items delivered directly to you! The PTA will receive 20% of all sales during our fundraiser this Fall. The money will go towards classroom supplies to benefit our kids. More details to come.
Skate Night: Held at Independence Skateway twice a year—dates TBD. Forms will be sent out to pre-order tickets at a lower cost (sold at regular price at the door). Volunteers needed to pass out pre-ordered tickets to teachers of children who ordered them and pass out prizes throughout the evening of the event.
Spirit Wear: Show some Kenton Spirit! This October, we’re offering Kenton Elementary Spiritwear to purchase online through IB Sports. More information to come.
Yankee Candle: Our biggest fundraiser of the year will start Thursday, October 13th! You can purchase Yankee Candle products in time for the holidays. Students will have the opportunity to sell to friends and family. Products can be purchased via order form or online. Your items will be shipped to the school and can be picked up the evening of Thursday, December 1st at our school Christmasfest or during office hours. Online ordering will continue all year long, and our school still receives 40% of the cost!
Yearbook: This is only made possible with help from volunteers to take photos of school events throughout the year. Volunteers also needed to organize photos and create page layouts for the annual yearbook.
Yearbook orders are due Thursday, October 15th. Visit Balfour‘s Smart Pay website to place your order. Please do not send orders to school.
- This year you can share your photos for our school yearbook! Balfour Image Share is a free app available through the Apple App Store and Google Play. You will need to use Project #: 619717 and Password: wildcats to upload your photos. All photos will be reviewed before printing. Not all photos uploaded may be chosen to be printed in the yearbook. Content of photos must be school related.
